Meet our cosmic cast of Wylie Beasts
We’re drawn to the roots of things. We can’t help but investigate the twists and turns on the way, alternative roads we didn’t travel on our first journey. One of the guides we met on our quest, The Temple King (2018), invited us into a mystical realm of friendly creatures sinfully under-considered.
Unrestrained by power structures. Rookies, leaders of their own subcultures. Full of attitude, rough-edges, and lore. Never asking to be spotlit but always there. Kind of like James, our alchemical wizard, who spent his childhood disappearing into the wilds of Kent to explore amongst the baby snakes, marsh-swimmers, and cabbage field dwellers.
The Temple King, 2018
Our collection of Wylie Beasts allowed us the time to see a body of work evolve and give way to wherever it led us. A marvel of sculptural prowess, unearthed from the depths of James' sculpting skills and Polly's boundless vision—each piece embodying the spirit and vitality of the creatures that inspired them.
They are all cosmic beings hailing from different parts of the universe, but these weird, wonderful fruits—the unglamorous, punky, animals amongst us—forged their own blazing paths through this life while unified by the divine principles of the intergalactic anarchist utopia. For their mischief, their BS calling, their soul and their wisdom, we thank them in dazzling gold splendour.
Bufo-Bufos-Beufoe
Bufo-Bufos-Beufoe comes from the damper regions of the Milky Way—the outer reaches of the universe—where they have laid dormant, brumating for millennia. Only now have they been prematurely awoken by radio waves emitted from earth by Roland 303’s in the early nineties. Here they are in their astral-coloured glory, alive and entranced by the repetitive frequencies as if by Hamelin, sharing their psychedelic magic as gratitude for the cosmic rave.
Ratticus Ratticus
Ratticus Ratticus lives by their smarts—born into every city, every underworld and every celestial realm. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Look again at Ratticus Ratticus—super sharp, super slick, glimmering with a twinkle of wit and wisdom. Never underestimate them, your unexpected comrade.
Lux the Wise
Lux The Wise was born of a solar flare caused by the death of a distant sun—appearing to us only as light. Each glint and shimmer and feather a reflection of the wisdom of the universe. Gaze into their eyes—catch a glimmer of all that the world could be.
Theta
Theta is a direct descendant of The Temple King. They’re a founding member of an intergalactic anarchistic utopia—a cosmic realm located on a radiant star at the rim of Sagittarius A* home to peace-loving worlds built on harmony, creativity, and the elevation of healing reverberations. Many moons ago, they left with little more than seeds and spores—but, now! They travelled back through time, meeting us in a parallel universe to share the wisdom they’ve learned from Fungi. Brilliant, boundless beauty awaits for all bold enough to explore.
